Beach Walk

On the second day I decided to just walk along the beach, now that I knew the area a little better. Go to the main pier and hang right. You can go walking for a long time, and I realized that this would have been perfect for taking a mountain bike ride. |

As soon as you get to the very rocky volcanic beach, you will see newly made artwork in the old style |

Then, up ahead, the real thing, antique moai, sitting on sacred ground that we are forbidden to step on, recognizable by warning signs and a low stone barrier. |

This is all lava rock, and if you look close, you can see that it was liquid when it hit the ocean and froze in strange shapes. |

Suddenly, a good distance from Hanga Roa, I came upon what I called the Ronald Reagan Moai. |
